The benefits

Young people talking The Youth in Action programme gives grant funding for groups and organisations to do projects with young people.

What’s in it for you and your organisation?

Youth workers who have been through the Youth in Action programme agree that it:

  • helps young people to learn new skills, increase employability, and develop as responsible citizens
  • is a particularly valuable opportunity for disadvantaged young people to access international opportunities
  • enhances intercultural learning, not just for young people but for the local community too
  • provides a unique non-formal learning experience
  • adds a fresh European and international dimension to all they do
  • encourages young people to innovate and develop quality projects therefore increasing their skill-set and employability.

  • enhanced recognition for their group within the community
  • the development of new programmes and opportunities
  • opportunities to link up with other organisations, both at home and across Europe
  • benefitting from efficiencies through partnership working (e.g. resources)

Developing youth workers

If you are actively involved within the youth sector, Youth in Action offers funds for training and networking.

Whether you apply for a grant to plan and run an activity or whether you opt for one of the training events that we provide, you will get a chance to exchange ideas with other youth workers and improve your knowledge, skills and confidence.

This training is provided by the network of resource centres that support the Youth in Action Programme, which are known collectively as ‘SALTO’ (Support, Advanced Learning and Training Opportunities within the European Youth Programme).

Find out more about these professional development opportunities in Training for project leaders or in more detail in the Programme guide (PDF 1.03MB) under Action 4.3 - ‘Training and Networking’. Information is also provided in the SALTO Training Calendar.
