A partnership in Prague – a European adventure
What could be better than learning how to be a successful entrepreneur? Well, how about linking that with learning more about the world?
If you agree that adds up to a winning combination, you might want to consider getting involved in a Youth in Action programme like the one we ran recently in partnership with the Lewisham Youth Support Service, called the Ladywell Youth Village Project.
The programme’s goal was to develop youth leadership and community entrepreneurship. Meeting that goal involved taking ten lucky young people from the UK on a trip to Prague.
While in Prague, the UK team was able to work with its Czech partners in a range of activities designed to sharpen everyone’s leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
As a result of these activities – workshops, discussion groups, practical projects and the like - the young people were able to return home with the confidence and know-how needed to create and run a series of skating nights for the Lewisham community. The skate nights were a big hit and involved people of all ages.
Not surprisingly, the whole experience gave an enormous boost to the participants’ talents – especially in the areas of peer leadership and organisation – and it offered them a unique opportunity to make new international friendships and get a real taste of another country’s culture. And best of all, it didn’t just boost their future employment prospects, but also their self-esteem and self-confidence.
