Learning Technologies for the Classroom is an on-line course, moderated by a teacher trainer, and designed for teachers who have little experience in using technologies in their teaching. It introduces teachers to basic learning technologies that can be used in the English language classroom in an efficient, engaging and effective way. The course takes into account different situations teachers find themselves in, both where technology is only available outside the classroom and where the classroom is well-resourced with IT.
It will help teachers to:

understand how and why learning technologies are being used in education |

develop an awareness of the learning technologies available today |
 |
 |
 |
develop an ability to critically evaluate what is available on the web •develop a knowledge of practical applications of the technologies |

 |
develop a technical understanding of the tools and the technical skills necessary to use these in class |
 |
 |
 |
apply this knowledge in order to integrate learning technologies into syllabi and lessons |
 |
 |
 |
use learning technologies in a safe, engaging, effective, efficient and transformative manner •recognize the potential of new web tools as learning technologies. |
The course consists of 17 modules which take in total approximately 50 hours to complete in about 10 weeks. Participants must have access to a PC with internet connection and be able to commit about 5 hours a week to the course but at a time suitable to them. Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a British Council certificate.
