Slovene students in the UK have free treatment from the National Health Service (NHS).
As soon as you arrive in the UK, you should register with a doctor. Many universities and colleges have their own health centre. If not, register with a doctor near where you live.
You will also receive your dental treatment at a reduced rate. When registering with a dentist, make sure they accept NHS patients: most dentists only accept private patients.
As a student in the UK you are automatically a member of the National Union of Students (NUS). The Students’ Union organises a large number of social events for students, and runs restaurants, bars and shops. It also provides other important services for its members such as a welfare and advice service and information about discount travel for students.
In UKCOSA Guidance notes you can get practical advice on everything you need to know when coming to the UK to study.
