Active Citizens is a British Council programme in the area of intercultural dialogue and global citizenship. The programme aims to contribute to social change within communities, to use dialogue to achieve community impact through implementation of positive changes. It works with leaders of youth, women’s’, cultural, recreational or religious groups, with NGOs, local governments, and businesses to build on their own skills. The programme has three components in Slovakia:
Active Citizens was launched in 2009 and is currently running in 28 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. In Europe, within three years, we will have built a network of 120 community leaders and master trainers, some 3000 Active Citizens who will have built networks with 100,000 participating in their social action projects. Project implementation: September 2011–March 2012 (international exchanges may take place after this period) Training fee: €50 Active Citizens programme is a continuation to the successful Intercultural Navigators project.
