Improve your English for travel, education, and work |
These are the world's leading range of certificates for learners of English. Each year, they are taken by over 1.5 million people, in 135 countries and are widely recognised for work and study purposes. The exams are linked to the Common European Framework (CEF) of Reference for Languages, published by the Council of Europe. They are administered in Slovakia, you can take them in Bratilava.
Generally, the higher the level of exam, the more recognised, accepted and valuable it is. It is very important that you choose an exam at an appropriate level for you, otherwise you may find it too difficult and fail or too easy in which case the certificate will not correspond to your real proficiency level. We suggest you ask your English language teacher for advice.

Some exams are only available in Bratislava. All exams are a subject to minimum entry requirements! The late registration fee is increased by 35 EUR due to the additional administration that comes with this.
Upon successful registration, you will receive an invitation letter or email from us or your language school approximately three weeks before the exam / the first part of the exam. The letter will specify the date, time and venue for all parts of the test. Candidates who have not received the invitation letter 3 weeks before the date of the written part of the test should contact the institution where they registered for the exams (e.g. language school or the British Council).
Please read the information in the invitation letter or email carefully and follow all instructions.
On the test day(s), please be punctual and bring a valid picture ID (National ID card or passport).
Candidates who registered with language schools will receive both results and certificates from the school.
First, you will receive notification of results. Certificates for passing candidates will be issued after the results only to candidates with passing grades. Candidates first have a chance to collect them at the British Council as they may get damaged when sent via the post. When collecting your result in person, you need to produce a valid picture ID. If you want somebody else to collect the certificate on your behalf, this person needs to have an authorisation from the candidate and a valid picture ID.
