In today’s highly competitive business environment, a welltrained staff is the single greatest asset any company can have. Professional skills development and training programmes can bring real impact in improved productivity, increased customer satisfaction, better staff retention and even increased revenue.

In a recent study by Cranfield School of Management*, one of Britain’s leading business schools, researchers concluded that investing in training not only saves money but is more effective than shopping around for talent:
- Three quarters of the 1,189 companies involved in the study felt that training staff was more beneficial to their business than recruiting new people from outside.
- Half the companies discovered that training staff made them more likely to stay
- One-third found it increased staff motivation
- Almost half actually saved money in the process.
With this in mind, the British Council is pleased to announce the launch of its new Professional Training Programme – a series of 1–2 day workshops and blended learning solutions designed to meet the training needs of Slovakian companies both large and small.

BLENDED LEARNING PROGRAMMES |
 |
 |
It’s not always easy for busy professionals to attend regular courses, or to take time off work for training. Blended learning offers an ideal solution by combining online study with personal feedback from the trainer, and shorter, face-to-face sessions. This means that you can decide when, where and how long you study each week, giving a level of flexibility to suit even the busiest professional.
Currently we offer two programmes in this format:
International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) – This flexible 100-hour course is designed to deliver up to 75 hours online learning with 25 hours face-to-face teaching. Although this is the typical format, other combinations can be tailored to the needs of your organisation.
International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) – as with ICFE, this flexible course combines online practice with face-to-face input and review sessions and is ideal either for ongoing skills development or intensive preparation for the Cambridge examination.
As well as these courses, we can also put together tailored programmes in Business English combining self-study online with face to- face training in the workplace.
