British Council Singapore
Purpose and values

Home > About us > Purpose and values

In Singapore, the work of the British Council includes teaching English; providing the latest information about studying in the UK; promoting British education and training; and demonstrating the innovation, creativity and excellence of British science, arts, literature and design.

Our purpose is to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and Singapore and to increase Singaporeans’ appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements.

This work is driven by our strong belief in internationalism, a commitment to professionalism and an enthusiasm for creativity. We hold ourselves to the highest possible standards of integrity. We believe that cultural relations can help individuals and the world community to thrive.

Our Integrated Equality Scheme has been developed to help us promote equality and eliminate discrimination in the areas of gender, race and disability. Find out how we are applying this scheme worldwide Adobe Acrobat, icon © Adobe Systems (197 KB).
