Networking your way to the top

We have partnered with Standard Chartered Financial to host the monthly Management Express Forum (MEX), a discussion platform with lectures by CEOs on management and leadership topics for MBA students, early/mid - career and senior managers and those undertaking CPD. The aim is to come together through high-profile networking events to share experience and expertise and ultimately improve management competencies in Sierra Leone. The forums are held at the British Council Hall on the last Thursday of every month at 18:00. Cost: Le5,000.

What are the objectives?

To organise and facilitate a vibrant monthly forum for discussion on current and topical issues in management
To enhance management capacity and leadership skills among members
To promote professionalism amongst managers

Past Events
November: The most recent forum held on the 6th of November focused on “Public Accountability as a prerequisite to development”. The guest speaker was Dr. AbuBakar H Kargbo, senior lecturer, Department of Social Sciences, post graduate division at Njala University.

August: The forum held on the 30th of August focused on “Sustainable Management of Sierra Leone’s Environment.” The event was chaired by Mr. Chris Squire, Executive Commissioner for the Environmental Commission of Sierra Leone. Guest speakers included members of Sierra Leone’s Conservation Society and the Department of Biological Sciences at Fourah Bay College.

July: The July 26th event focused on “Information Technology in Governance.” The event was chaired by Mr. Sonnia-Magba Jabbi, Lecturer at Fourah Bay College and the guest speaker was Mr. Moses S. Elba, Consultant, Systems Application product (SAP) from Zimbabwe.

June: The June 28th event focused on “Starting and Managing Your Own Business.” The event was chaired by Mr. Donald Gooding, Civil Engineer and the guest speaker was Mr. L.B. Rogers-Wright, Management Consultant/Proprietor, GENIUS Enterprises.

In addition to the monthly events, we offer a Management Core collection at the Professional Development Centre, which is comprised of over 700 books focusing on the topics of management, accounting, finance, etc. A yearly membership costs Le200,000 and gives you access to the monthly forums and management core collection.
