Mia David Zaric

Mia David Zaric was born in 1974. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. She completed a one-year seminar in art theory organised by the Centre for Contemporary Art in Belgrade. She received an MA in Scene Design from the University of Arts in Belgrade and currently is working on her DA in the same area. In 2005 and 2006, Mia David Zaric was a guest lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.

She has been engaged with the research and shaping of different spaces. Mia is the author of a number of realised projects in the areas of architecture, design, scenography and art, as well as more than a hundred articles published in Camp and Ambienti magazines. As partner in the Bloc architectural studio, she was co-author of several buildings and interiors. She is, also, author of several exhibition displays for the Jewish history museum, dealing with the holocaust and Jewish tradition and history topics.

Mia exhibited her works in the area of architecture and scene design in Frankfurt, Moscow and Belgrade, and as part of the project SD 02 – place: Krstac, she participated at the Venice Biennale in 2004. She is a member of NUNS (Association of Independent Journalists of Serbia), Belgrade Association of Architects and Engineering Bar of Serbia.

Mia won a Special prize at the VI Biennale of Scene Design in 2006, for the design of scene, video and promotional material for the play Pilad, by Uzice National Theatre, as well as Joakim Vujic award in 2007, for the set design in Art and leisure of the same theatre. She is also author of the set design and promotional material for the play Servant of two masters that premiered at 2007 Venice Biennale, and was co-produced by the Uzice National Theatre, BITEF theatre, Venice Biennale, Offucina Electric Arts and Grand Theatre Groningen.
