Brodsky Quartet in Belgrade
Kolarac Concert Hall, 21 September 2011

In September 2011 we supported the initiative from Jugokoncert to bring to Belgrade one of the world's best and most famous string quartets - Brodsky Quartet from London. In accordance with its mission to present exceptional contemporary composers, this string quartet performed Isidora Žebeljan's chamber music in Kolarac Concert Hall, along with a number of renowned Serbian and international musicians. Also, the Quartet members held a masterclass for a group of talented young musicians from Serbia that have a special interest in this type of musical ensembles.

The renowned Serbian composer Isidora Žebeljan has been working with the Quartet for several years now. Her piece The Song of a Traveller in the Night was performed by Brodsky Quartet more than 20 times in concerts in Spain, Ireland (Galway Festival), Netherlands (Festival Classique), Germany (WDR Festival) in the UK. After the exceptional success of this piece, Isidora wrote Pomoka quartet for Brodsky Quartet as a commission from the University of Kent. This piece premiered in Canterbury, UK in May 2009.

The concert and masterclass resulted from our partnership with Jugokoncert.
