Having won the Serbian finals, Mirko Djordjevic qualified for the International FameLab Finals held in Cheltenham, UK on 6 June 2009. In Cheltenham, Mirko did the most with his three-minute spot to wow the judges and won the title of the Best Science Communicator in 2009.
Mirko Djordjevic was born in 1986 in Pozarevac. He completed Secondary Medical School, Department for Pharmaceutical Technology. Mirko studies Molecular Biology and Physiology at the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade. He is currently in the last year of studies at the Department for Applied Genetics and Evolution. Mirko is writing his graduation thesis about implementation of molecular methods in research of sexual selection of weevils at the Institute for Biological Research ‘Sinisa Stankovic’. Mirko’s most favourite place in the world is his lake shore house, where he enjoys walking with his dogs. He plays the clarinet and if he wasn’t a scientist, Mirko would like to own a restaurant.
