Nurturing the creative economy
Bristol and Falmouth, 27 November–3 December 2004 (event 0452)

What are the creative industries?  How are they defined and what drives this growth?  What is their cultural contribution?  What is their relation to art, education and social inclusion?  This seminar will examine these issues using South West England, a diverse area with major cities as well as some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, as a case study and consider how the UK's experience is relevant to the economic development of other countries.  It will consider strategies for growth, sustainability and competitiveness.

Who should attend this seminar
People working in creative industries, senior policy makers, politicians and civil servants, for example from Ministries of Finance, Economic Development, Education and Culture and those working in enterprise initiatives.  Participants will be encouraged to present their own experiences and we look to foster appropriate partnerships amongst participants and between participants and contributors.

The United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
