Phyllida Shaw is an independent researcher, writer and facilitator, specialising in arts policy and management.
She has worked extensively for the UK’s publicly funded arts funding system, the Department for Culture Media and Sport, local authorities, grant-making trusts, higher education institutions and for a wide range of performing and visual arts organisations and museums.
She is an adviser to the trustees of the Baring Foundation and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and is Chair of the steering group for Ignite, a programme of the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA), that aims to identify and nurture exceptional creativity in young people. From 1999 – 2004 she was a trustee of the National Network for the Arts in Health.
