Science in Scotland

Are you a scientist or a science communicator based in Scotland or overseas interested in international links?

We promote international awareness of Scottish excellence and creativity in scientific research and innovation and create links between the scientific communities in Scotland and the rest of the world.

Visits, seminars and exchanges

We organise an annual science communication seminar that takes place alongside the Edinburgh International Science Festival.

We also organise visits, seminars and exchanges that highlight areas of Scottish scientific excellence and facilitate international networking. Visits and exchanges are initiated by our overseas offices.

Café Scientifique Climate Change and Citizenship

Café Scientifique events use video conferencing technology to link participants from different countries together to discuss climate change and the role of citizens in ensuring a sustainable future.

We have organised three Café Scientifique events which linked Scotland with Malawi and Lithuania and included speakers such as:

Kevin Dunion, Scotland’s Information Commissioner
Dr David Reay, University of Edinburgh
Dr Richard Dixon, World Wildlife Fund
Heather Reid, BBC Scotland.
