'There is now a widespread acknowledgement that human beings are changing the climate. But we are still in denial. The implications of global warming hover just outside the grasp of our imaginations.'

MARK EDWARDS is one of the most widely published editorial photographers in the world. His widely acclaimed work Hard Rain has toured throughout Europe.

In February 2008 Mark Edwards came to Scotland to give a series of public lectures about how the Hard Rain project developed and the reaction of audiences to his work.

The Hard Rain Picture Show takes audiences on a journey through rainforests, man-made deserts, inside shantytowns and peasant villages and into communities of indigenous people living in the most remote habitats on earth. It is not another travelogue or an exercise in hand-wringing.

The presentation takes us face to face with our problems and the solutions hidden inside the issues that define the 21st century. It inspires audiences to participate in the complex debate about how best to address the pressing problems - climate change, poverty, habitat loss, human rights - that threaten to engulf us.

MARK EDWARDS appeared at the following venues in February: 2008

Wednesday 6 February - 1pm - The Melting Pot, 5 Rose Street, Edinburgh. Entry £3
Thursday 7 February - 1pm - Conference Room, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Argyle St Glasgow. Entry £3
Thursday 7 February - 7pm - Goodlyburn Lecture Theatre, Perth College, Crieff Road, Perth. Entry £3.
