cityscapers: By the throat

The British Council and the Porosity Studio (UNSW) led by Professor Richard Goodwin, in collaboration with Edinburgh university presented the results of a two week studio combining students from architecture, visual arts, urban planning and design courses in Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam and Scotland. By the Throat explores the possible connections between Edinburgh and Glasgow at the very neck of the United Kingdom.

The studio will now conclude with a catalogue and DVD film of the exhibition which will tour to participating countries in 2008/9.

The FeliCity project is based on the idea of developing a region based on the Gross National Happiness concept.

As a group we propose that travellers along the m8 should be intrigued and educated during their journey. The concept of our design uses several, tunnel like installations. These tunnels begin as a wide, open space, gradually becoming smaller in the middle and open up again towards the end.
