Scottish students have swept the boards at two awards ceromonies in London.
Roslyn Clarke, a 5th year Civil and Environmental Engineering student at the University of Edinburgh won the tenth annual IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) UK Trainee of the Year award at a ceremony in London on 6 December. She was presented with a £1,000 prize.
Alexandra Reddaway a Structural Engineering with Architecture student also from Edinburgh University won second place. Of the ten finalists the shortlist included students from Strathclyde University and the Glasgow School of Art.

Earlier this week, a Scottish business student won the UK Erasmus Student Essay prize for 2007.
Cameron MacInnes, 21, from the University of Strathclyde beat 150 other Erasmus participants for the £1000 essay-writing award.
Sixteen short listed finalists recounted and illustrated their experiences of living and studying in Europe with the Erasmus Programme to an invited audience at a ceremony last night at the British Council headquarters in London.
Cameron, who is studying Business Studies with Languages had spent 10 months in Mannheim, Germany and was one of ten essay finalists. Of the 16 finalists, six were from Scottish universities.
Jane Hutt, Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, of the Welsh Assembly Government presented £1000 to Cameron and £650 to the Photography competition winner, Tom Hardinge (20) from the University of Reading.
Second prize in the Essay category and an award of £500, went to Janet McIlfatrick (22), a student of Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast, who studied in Oslo, Norway. Third prize in the Essay and an award of £250 went to Vicki McAllister (28) a Nursing student at Glasgow Caledonian University, who spent three months in Umea, Sweden.

IAESTE is managed by the British Council. It is an international exchange programme which focuses on providing technical work experience placements for science and engineering undergraduates. The Trainee of the Year Award is designed to highlight the benefits the programme brings to UK participants.
