Pedro Gandolfo Soares is a researcher at the Climate Change and Environmental Services Program of the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of Amazonas (IDESAM). Pedro works in the development of REDD+ projects and Payment for Environmental Services activities. In 2011, Pedro was deeply involved in the development of the Project Design Document (PDD) of the Suruí Forest Carbon Project and in the validation process under the international standards Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) and Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). Pedro is also coordinator of Idesam’s Carbon Neutral Program, which develops greenhouse gas inventories for companies and events, and promotes reforestation in degraded areas at the Sustainable Development Reserve of Uatumã (Amazonas State, Brazil), with an emphasis on the establishment of Agroforestry Systems as a strategy to offset GHG emissions from clients while ensuring food security and income generation for traditional communities.
