Marina - Rio+YOU project

Rio+YOU is a global youth movilization to raise awareness of the importance and urgency of sustainable development on the Road to Rio+20, which by now has presence in over 30 countries around the world. This campaign was born at the Latin American Youth Congress on the Road to Rio+20, organized by Fundación TierraVida (my organisation) in October 2011 (www.caminoariomas20.org). Fundación TierraVida, has been working since early 2011 to promote and ensure widely youth participation in the Rio+20 process, through the Road to Rio Initiative in Latin America and globally as International facilitator of the Rio+YOU campaign.

Rio+YOU will be presented in Rio+20 in many ways: first and foremost, co-organizing the largest youth news agency during the Summit in partnership with Viracao, a Brazilian NGO which has also acted as the National Focal Point for Rio+YOU in Brazil. Between June 11-23, over 70 young reporters will be trained on the use of various media and will be covering the Summit producing written and audiovisual content from a youth perspective during all the duration of the event.

Rio+YOU will also deliver presentations at the Forum de Empreendedorismo Social Na Nova Economia, at Forte Copacabana (14-17 June), at a side event in RioCentro (date to be confirmed), at the Youth Blast and at the People's Summit.
