Khwankhao began her love of the environment in high school through participation in an environmental conservation club. She followed her passion to university, earning a BS and MS in Biology and Forest Ecology at Chiang Mai University.
Upon graduation, Khwankhao began work at the Forest Restoration Research Unit: FORRU, Biology Department, Faculty of Sciences, Chiang Mai University as a field researcher and education officer. Her second job is volunteering as a public relations agent of a local civil society, called Chiang Mai Keaw Suay Homm project or Green City project, to encourage green area management of Chiang Mai city and to conserve local culture and adapt to urban development. In 2011, her project Keaw Suay Homm, producing organic fertiliser from urban waste, was selected to join the E-idea program, a joint initiative of the British Council and LRQA. Khwankhao has brought her ideas and experience to various platforms – serving as Thailand’s representative to “Youth leaders of environment” in Japan and presenting at numerous international academic conferences on forest restoration through using native species for tropical forest. Khwankhao has just been named the Thai representative of Mae Kok basin for Youth.
