High Performance - Science Museum Event
High Performance speaker Cara Tredget
28 February 2013
High Performance is all about the exciting world of things that move very, very fast. Think race cars, jet planes, space shuttles, and even sub-atomic particles (the fastest of them all!).
This three-day high-octane festival will be held at the Science Museum, London betweeen 8-10 March, and will not only be an informative, interactive and fun exploration into the science and engineering of high speed, but will also commemorate the women who work in these fields. Running in conjunction with International Women's Day, the festival will feature an all-female line-up of guests, including motorsport engineer Teena Gade, former Ferrari F1 scientist Dr Cara Tredget, and all-girls electric-car racing team Viridity GRT.
The three day event is suitable for all age groups above 5 years, and will be packed with hands-on activities such as the minicar-building workshop (9-10 March 12.00 and 14.30), talks by leading scientists and engineers, and great opportunities to meet pilots and racing car drivers.
What's extra-special about this event is that it highlights the presence of women in what is often perceived as a male-dominated world of science and engineering. Many of the world's greatest scientists and engineers are women, and this is fantastic opportunity to meet them in person and hear about their lives.
