This briefing sheet explores UK initiatives to open the doors of SET to women and help them climb the ladder to success. It shows how the role of women in science and engineering can be promoted effectively at different levels, from UK and international networks and overarching government policies and intervention, to local courses and interactive hands-on events.
The briefing sheet is by no means an exhaustive directory. It highlights good practices that have shown some success. Other countries may be able to draw on UK experiences without having to repeat research or 'reinvent the wheel'. Similarly, other countries will have useful experience to share with organisers in the UK. Full contact details for all key organisations mentioned in the text are given at the end of the document.
You can download the Women in SET briefing sheet free of charge and reproduce it for your own use but you must acknowledge authorship.
