International Funding

Overview of International Funding
The importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in research is becoming increasingly recognised. Here in the UK there are many schemes and programmes to encourage the exchange of ideas and experience between individuals and research groups around the world. These webpages provide and indication of some of the types of funding and categories of researchers to whom they would apply. As this website is aimed at postdoctoral researchers, we have not specifically included sources of funding for researchers who have not yet completed their PhD. However, many of the funding sources mentioned in the guide do also provide funding for PhD researchers.

Career stages
Different sources of funding are available to researchers at different stages of their careers, and often the eligibility criteria vary from organisation to organisation. Please remember when applying for funding to check the eligibility terms for each scheme and organisation.
