The RoverBot Challenge is designed bring the technology, engineering and vision of space projects to life. Workshops last an hour and involve up to 30 participants, working in teams of two, who compete to create the smartest robot to solve the challenge. Tasks develop the teamwork, analysis and critical skills needed to plan, build and implement a realistic simulation of a robotic mission to Mars.
The RoverBot Challenge is suitable for schools, museums, art galleries and any indoor open space with an available work area of approximately 5x5m. There are two versions of the challenge available through the BC:
This requires access to eight or more Windows PCs to run the programming software. The challenge is more oriented towards programming than building, with robust pre-built robots that would be suitable for young and old.
This does not require PCs to program the robots, but might be less appropriate for younger children without adult supervision.
