“Overall the whole Fellowship experience has been extremely fruitful in terms of allowing me to practise my language skills and make friends with such lovely people along the way. I would recommend the Fellowships to anyone who is serious about learning and speaking a language, as I have learnt so much from the experience.” - Paarul Shah, Student Fellow
If you are a student aged 16 to 18 and attending school or college in England and are interested in spending two weeks in a French school working on an individual research project, the Anglo-French Student Fellowship programme is for you.

16 to 18 year-old pupils at schools and colleges in England |
Pupils must be in school year 12 or 13 at the time of their visit to France |
Applications are particularly welcome from A-level/AS students of French |
Applicants need to have a good level of French in order to communicate with teachers and peers, to observe lessons and to carry out their research project |
Please note that projects are intended to be individual pieces of work and students should not submit joint applications. Should students from the same school be awarded a fellowship to visit the same French partner school, they would be expected to stay in different host families and work on different projects themes. Only two successful applications from any English school will be supported in one financial year.
Successful applicants whose school or college has a partner institution in France should attach to their application a letter of support from the head teacher of that institution stating that they have seen a copy of the research proposal, and that they are happy to host the candidate on for the dates indicated and will find a suitable host family.
All student fellows must stay in host family accommodation with a family linked to the school.
The timings of the individual study visits are flexible. However, it is expected that most visits will take place between mid-October and mid-November or between mid-February and mid-March and make use of half term holidays. Please note that visit dates should not clash with French holiday dates
Please download the complete set of guidelines and read carefully before submitting your application.
The topics of the research projects are of the students' own choice although we strongly recommend that it is in line with their A/AS-level studies/coursework. Project proposals should show how a visit to the partner country is necessary and integral to the research. All interested students should consult with their teachers about project themes.
Examples of research projects previously undertaken include:
