International network for young scientists (INYS)
If you are a young researcher looking for new ideas and a strong driver for creativity our scheme can help you to get in touch with young scientists and engineers from the UK and other countries.

What is INYS
We support face-to-face meetings between young scientists and engineers from the UK and other countries, for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and information and the building of international connections that assist the innovation process.

Your can read more about the scheme on the British Council UK website.

Why is it important
We believe that for young scientists travelling and meeting colleagues is a powerful source of new ideas. Face-to-face meeting gives meaning to distant communications turning unwanted e-mails into useful correspondence, and curious ideas into interesting results.

Links are fostered not only between young researchers, but also their mentors, promoting an image of British science as creative, innovative and internationally competitive.

The format
The scheme models itself on the N+N or N+N+N concept. N+N refers to a workshop involving a number of researchers from the UK and an equal number of local researchers; ideally eight or more from each country. N+N+N refers to three countries-participants.The workshop location can be in either country, but more commonly outside the UK.

Who can participate
The scheme is specifically targeted at post-doctoral researchers or people who have been tenured for five years or less.  The intention is to concentrate on new faces and encourage new links. PhD students can be included, to encourage them to have direct contact with researchers in other countries, put forward original research ideas and contribute to the development of links, with a view to applying for postdoctoral fellowships.

How to apply
We invite proposals from Russian organisations that have already set up links with UK organisations. A senior Russian scientist must be the local co-ordinator (working with the young national scientists as a mentor). A senior UK scientist must be the joint co-ordinator (working with the young UK scientists as a mentor).

Your can download the Proposal form. If you need further information about the scheme please contact Oleg Eletskiy.
