Chevening Scholarship
For 2009-10 academic year

Each year, the Chevening programme provides around 1,000 new scholarships around the world for postgraduate studies or research at UK Institutions of Higher Education. These FCO Scholarships and Fellowships are prestigious awards which enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom.

British Chevening scholarship covers tuition fees for residential courses at a UK higher education establishment for a period of 3-12 months as well as accommodation costs and offers you:

  • An opportunity to obtain a postgraduate Master’s qualification
  • The stimulating experience of being part of a dynamic international community
  • The option of undertaking a shorter period of study or research (minimum 3 months)

Priority fields of study:

  • Public Administration (including Public Health and Urban Planning as well as Governance issues)
  • International Relations (including International Security)
  • Political Studies
  • Public, Constitutional, International and Human Rights Law; Law Enforcement
  • Journalism (Print and Broadcasting Media)
  • Climate Change and Environmental Studies (including Sustainable Development, Environmental Protection; Planning and Management issues)
  • Energy Security; Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
  • Innovation
  • Economics

Applications for non-priority fields will also be considered.

Students on distance learning courses are not eligible for Chevening support.

Applications are submitted via e-Chevening .

Application handed in in person or sent by post will not accepted.

Application submission for Chevening 2010-2011 is closed

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview in December 2009–January 2010. Due to large number of applications we will not be able to contact candidates whose applications were not shortlisted.
