MULTILINGUAL WORLD

In partnership with Goethe Institut, Moscow State Linguistic University and the Moscow Institute of Open Education, the British Council ran an International project on “Introduction of the Common European Framework of Languages (CEFR) and the European Language Portfolio (ELP) in foreign language teaching in Russian schools”

The purpose of this project was to support the teaching of foreign languages in Russian schools via the use of  the Common European Framework of languages and the European Language Portfolio.

The aim of the project is  to assist in aligning  Russian standards and FLT curriculum with the European ones and  training  teachers and trainers for the use  of the European Language portfolio and the Common European Framework in schools in Russia.

The participants of the project are teachers of English and German and teacher trainers  from Moscow, St.Petersburg and Kaliningrad. Trainers and consultants of the project are  the experts from the UK, Germany.  Moscow State Linguistic University, and some other linguistic schools in Moscow.

Through a series of  training activities  on ‘Working with the ELP’ which involved a 36-hour module course of Moscow Open Education Institution run in cooperation with BC trainers,  a team of teacher trainers have been developed and they will be delivering workshops on the practical issues of the use of  the ELP in the light of the modern paradigm of the language teaching and  further dissemination of the ELP as a tool for student’s self-assessment.

British Council ran a series of workshops. The qualified trainers with a practical teaching background would be happy to share their experience, skills and knowledge on the following issues:

  • The European Language Portfolio as the future of world assessment: Introduction to the use of the ELP.
  • Planning Lessons with the integration  of the European Language Portfolio
  • Teaching language skills and the European Language Portfolio
