We received 381 applications for 3 places of Russian Language Assistants in the UK Secondary Schools. We would like to thank everyone who applied for the programme.
The selection process involved two rounds of applications review, and an interview.

Have you ever wanted to teach abroad and improve your English? Can you think of classroom activities that would help students in the UK to improve their Russian language skills? If so, the Foreign Language Assistants programme might be for you.
Your role will be to work with the teacher in the classroom or on your own with small groups of students in order to help them gain confidence in your language. It is also a good chance for them to learn more about the culture in your country.
This year the British Council Russia will be enrolling up to 4 teachers to work as foreign language assistants in 2012/2013 academic year.
We are looking for young enthusiastic professionals with higher education diploma to work as assistant teachers in British school during 2012/2013 academic year.
- motivation to work in the classroom and promote Russian language and culture
- very good command of English
- higher education diploma (preferably connected with foreign or Russian language and/or teaching)
- some experience of teaching a foreign language or Russian as a foreign language is desirable but not essential
To apply for the position of a language assistant, please complete the аpplication form and other relevant documents and return it to us by post: 109189, Moscow, Nikoloyamskaya, 1, British Council, English Department by 15 of May 2012.

- 3 recent photos 3x4 (colored or black and white)
- Confidential reference (Please ask your referee to write you a reference letter and put it in a sealed envelope. Please forward us this sealed envelope without opening. If the referee does not speak English, s/he can provide the letter in Russian. You do not need to translate the letter)
- Copy of your passport (first page and the page with address ) (you do not need to notarise the copies)
- Copy of your foreign passport (page with passport's valid date)
- CV (or resume) in English (we do not have any special requirements for this, as usual, please outline your education, work experience, skills and other information that you think will be useful to support your application).
Successful candidates will need to provide police clearance certificate and medical certificate. We will notify you separately when it is required.
Programme approximate length is nine months from September – early October till late May-June.
