III Cultural Management Workshop
8-9 December 2012, Co-Work Station in Gorky Park, Moscow

On 8-9 December 2012 British Council Russia will run the next Cultural Management Workshop at Co-Work Station in Gorky Park  which will be already the 3rd in the series of workshops which are part of the British Council Cultural Leadership programme that aims at enabling cultural practitioners and leaders develop their skills, networks and partnerships to successfully operate in the cultural sector in the rapidly changing context.

Over the recent years, it has become apparent that many emerging cultural leaders need support to develop practical cultural management competencies in addition to leadership skills. Cultural Management Workshop # 3 will focus on Digital Identities of cultural and creative projects that will encourage critical thinking and reflective practice to help cultural managers define digital context and create real impact.

The workshop will help participants to find answers what the digital identity is, how to develop a voice to kickstart ideas and create unique narratives online, how to manage and curate information, as well as it will help to create an effective digital campaign that can be put into practise, how to engage target audience that exist online and offline.

The focus of the workshop is on building communication skills on any social media network. The case studies in the sessions explain how the skills can be applied to - share ideas to create new forms of collaboration, find resources and expertise and change behaviour. These skills are also important to create any sort of narrative based application such as games, video and audio content.

The trainer, Abhay Adkhikari (PhD) is a digital engagement specialist. He has worked on a range of global web-based projects with organisations such as BBC World Service Trust, CarzOnRent (launched as Hertz subsidiary in India) and The Human Rights Law Network. Abhay also has a research background in education/ ICT.In 2009 he conducted a 5-city tour of Japan, working with creative practitioners and educators. In 2010 he managed 11 social media surgeries funded by the City of York Council.

Abhay currently manages the Digital Identity project that has travelled from Mumbai to Manchester. As part of this project he delivers strategy seminars at The Guardian and Channel 4. twitter.com/gopaldass

Participants profile:

  • Emerging cultural practitioners, managers and entrepreneurs involved in management of cultural and creative projects and events in all art forms;
  • Living and working in Russia;
  • With at least 3 years of experience;
  • Fluent English is obligatory since the workshop will be delivered in English.

The workshop fee is 2000 roubles (to be paid on the day of the workshop).

Participants will have to bring over their laptops to the workshop.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The number of participants is limited to 30 people.
  • The travel costs of regional participants will not be covered.
  • Participants of the 1st and 2nd CMW cannot apply for this workshop.
