The game took place in the old quarter (architecture of late 19th and early 20th century), which is is fortunate in many ways. It sits on the gorgeous bank of a huge lake and in the heart of the city at the same time. The environmental potential of the area is unlimited, though not quite developed so far (banks are rubbished and green spaces are poorly used).
The plan of the «Old city» district
We are happy to presentathe ideas of the Future City Game participants!

Virtual Quarter
The idea aims to create an off and online visualization zone with a help of media technologies of the future. The project integrates historical background of the quarter into a modern perspective, making it an interactive platform for light installations, shadow theater, 3D modeling, computer-based games (such as e.g. adaptations of Sims). The project encourages active involvement of local creative and hi-tech industries and makes it possible to attract young people, tourists and business (ads, selling goods at festivals and in the stylized shops, services etc). |

Four elements |
The project explores the idea of four elements (fire, earth, water and air) and a great potential of the area to be a rich greenery historical space. The team presented their vision as a place to get in touch with the elements of nature and to live with them in harmony. It is a place with great air, water, land and the fire of blacksmiths (traditional arts and crafts). |

Time machine |
The idea behind Time Machine is to create a theme park with opportunities to dive into 5 historical modules: Stone Age, Traditional Village, Old Town, USSR and Future. All sections are interactive museum platforms that encourage active participation and cover all age groups. This project also creates a brand, a so-called Mythical Motherland. This team had a creative idea for their presentation, they used talking heads of other participants (photos) to communicate key features of the concept. |
Creative labs |
This team visualized the quarter as an energy center for creative industries with a wide range of cultural activities, laboratories and opportunities for creative entrepreneurship. |
Kaleydoscope
The idea is to make a year-round schedule of many small and large scale cultural events creating a rich overall pattern. |

CABE Schools Design Review Panel Member. MADE (Midlands) Design Review Panel Member. English Heritage and CABE Urban Panel Member. Bath Urban Regeneration Panel Member Martin has worked in Civil and Structural Engineering for over thirty years on a great range of projects. In February 1997 he set up Martin Stockley Associates in Manchester later adding a further studio in London. Martin cares passionately about the quality of both the buildings and the public realm and infrastructure of cities, towns and rural areas. This stems from a knowledge that engineering can be much more than a means of achieving functional aims. His early work in major civil engineering taught him that far from trying to control the forces of nature, engineering is better aimed at working with nature. |

«I love dynamic, smart and beautiful cities, which are full of energy and which have their own rhythm and lifestyle. Each time when I get to the new place I try to feel its spirit and its sounds. The charm of the cities is the result of the everyday care, the creativity and collaboration of its citizens. It is great that we started thinking more about the places where we live, about the people around us. I am happy that more and more people want to make their cities better places to live in». |
