Dmitry Moskvin

Creating a new zone for modern city sports

Background: Ekaterinburg has more then 1.300.000 of population, including 30% of young people. There are more then 40 high schools in the city, which attract students from all over Russia and some foreign countries. Nevertheless, the sport industry hasn’t been changed since the Soviet time. Sport zones are not adapted for modern city, interests of rollers, skateboarders and bikers aren’t taken into account. Despite all the claims and complaints of local people, the city authorities still haven’t solved the problem.

Aim: To develop a project of creating a new  space for city sports in Ekaterinburg.  We should make special cycle lanes,  in parks we should organise  zones for roller-skating and skateboarding.  Also there should be arranged a special zone for volleyball and basketball somewhere in the further green district (without building a gym). This project will rise the safety level in the city,  attract people’s attention for the healthy lifestyle, involve young people into the  sport.

Potential partners: Centre of public and political innovations, The Public  Chamber of youth of Ekaterinburg Government

Developing a program increasing the employment rate amongst young people

Location: Russia, Krasnoyarsk, all the city

Background: Krasnoyarsk is a big city situated right in the middle of Russia. It is a huge business and industrial centre with population of about one million people. However, even constant economic development does not solve the problem of the youth unemployment in the city.

Aim: The game is aimed to bring together the youth and public officials to find the ways to increase the work participation rate amongst young people. Teenagers are supposed to express their desires concerning the possible places where they could have temporary or permanent jobs. The city administration and employers’ associations in their turn should get an understanding of the advantages of hiring the youth and develop the program increasing the volume of jobs created for the young people.

Creating a project to solve the problem of homeless dogs

Location: Metro “Rossiyskaya”, “Bezymyanki” (Pobedy str, 96), Several bus-stops “Ovrag Podpolshikova”, “Panova”, “Samarskaya Ploshad”, fizkulturnaya str., 116 etc.

Background: The hot problem for today’s Samara is homeless animals, especially dogs. Some of them were thrown by their masters, but most of them appear when the building grounds are over. These dogs join each other making a group. Every spring they give born to more and more puppies which grow up very quickly. The main problem is that they terrorize people. Their bark prevents from sleeping at night. It becomes dangerous to walk in the streets. People suffer from being bitten by them. The problem is that people are afraid to call to the special centres where these dogs are killed. Shelters are not able to keep all the animals. Moreover they try to take healthy and pretty animals that will find their second homes then. The aim of the game is to create a way to solve this problem. The solution needs to be both effective and not cruel.

The problem of prestige of blue-collar occupation in modern city

Location: St. Petersburg, any other big city

Background: During the last 10 years a lot of new high schools have appeared in St. Petersburg. As a result, different forms of  university education became accessible for  people. On one hand that’s good, because the level of education among people is rising, but on the other hand it causes a problem. Young people don’t want to enter vocation schools, and the employing market faces such a problem as a lack of blue-collars.   People don’t find such sort of education prestigious. As for the payment, in last few years it has become the same for people doing intellectual job and blue-collars. Our cities need different specialists, but despite the big  choice of vocation schools, people still prefer universities or colleges.

Potential partner: Committee of education, city Administration, employment service, presenters of different high schools.

Creating new comfortable conditions for tourists in Moscow

Location: Historical centre of Moscow

Background: Today Moscow isn’t the best place for tourists. There different reasons of this situation, such as lack of cheap hotels, problems with Russian visa,  lack of information centres in airports and on railway stations. A lot of Moscowites don’t speak English, that’s why they can’t help tourists on the streets. Also there are no street name plates in English. So if you don’t travel with a group and you have no guide, you’ll easily get lost in Russian capital. People forget that tourism is a very perspective rapidly growing industry, it’s great for city investments, Each tourist spends money for accommodation, transport, food and other things.  Also tourism gives new workplaces for city inhabitants.  I find this problem very important and I think it should be solved in the new creative  way.
