The British Council and Library for Foreign Literature, Moscow are delighted to announce the publication of brilliant and extraordinary 'Diaries of Virginia Woolf'.
Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) is recognized as a major twentieth-century English author, a great novelist, and a co-founder of famous Bloomsbury Group. Her most famous novels include Mrs. Dalloway (1925), the historical fantasy Orlando (1928), the extraordinarily poetic vision of The Waves (1931), the family saga of The Years (1937), and To the Lighthouse (1927). Virginia Wool is a notable author of short stories, an outstanding essayist and literary critic.
“A few 20th century writers possessed such a talent and such an amazing working capacity as Virginia Woolf, - writes Malcolm Bradbury, - she left behind a rich legacy, her writings mark the whole era. She is the greatest creative genius of her time.”
Virginia Woolf kept her diary since 1915 until shortly before her death in 1941. It is simply one of the best literary documents and a marvellous chronicle of her emotions, meetings, discussions, insights, and of course her creative work.
The publication of the novel was possible owing to the support of the British Council.
