Tom Stoppard. ROCK’N’ROLL
Russian State Academic Youth Theatre's premiere of the performance

Russian State Academic Youth Theatre  under support of the British Council will open its 91st theatrical season with the premiere of the performance ROCK’N’ROLL by the cult British playwright Sir Tom Stoppard.

The theatre decided to stage this play by the Stoppard’s desire after the premiere of “The Cost of Utopia” that became the main event of 2007-2008 theatrical season in Moscow.

UK premiere of the play took place on the Royal Court Theatre’s  stage in 2006 and since then has remained one of the most popular theatrical events.

Stage Director – Adolf Shapiro. Actors – Peter Krasilov, Ilya Isaev, Ramila Iskander, Alexey Myasnikov and others.

The premiere on 22 and 24 September was accompanied by the large-scale project that included:

  • 23 September – a charity concert Not Indifferent Rock for Russian hospices, that was opened by Sir Tom Stoppard
  • 23 September – debates on the play on TV Rain  Participants: Tom Stoppard, Adolf Shapiro, Artem Troitsky, Yuri Shevchuk, The Plastic People of the Universe, Peter Jenner – the first manager of Pink Floyd. Moderator – Mikhail Kozyrev.
  • The first edition of the play in Russian by the publishing house Corpus.
