The 4th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art titled “Rewriting Worlds” will be held on 23 September – 30 October 2011. The Main project will be located at two venues – the ArtPlay Design Center and the TSUM Art Foundation uniting 64 artists and 16 artistic groups from 33 countries.
This year’s exhibition will show different approaches to media usage in a contemporary artistic process, as well as types of art that deliberately criticize the role of technology and media.
The Main project will be curated by the artist and famous media specialist Peter Weibel, Director of the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, Germany. The biennale’s title “Rewriting Worlds” proceeds from the artists’ ability to change the present world by creating new ideas in their artworks.
Under the British Council support the renowned British artists will take part in the Moscow biennale this year: Richard Hamilton, Susan Hiller, David Shrigley, Isaac Julien, Cerith Wyn Evans and London design studio Random International.
