EUNIC: CURATORIAL BATTLE
The competition of young curators art-projects

On March 14th at 18:30 Education Centre “Garage” (Gorky Park, 9/4 Krymsky Val st.) will hold the final round of young curators competition within the framework of the EUNIC programme.

Four finalists will introduce their projects, developed during their internships in European museums. The winner of the competition will receive a 3,000 euro EUNIC grant for project implementation.

EUNIC - European Union National Institutes for Culture – is a network of organizations from 26 European countries. The purpose of EUNIC is to develop international cooperation, to support education and arts, and to involve young people into the cultural movement.

One of the projects in the Russian-based branch of EUNIC is the annual internship programme for young Russian curators in European museums and galleries which gives a unique opportunity to advance in career, study the European art market and build new professional contacts in Austria, Great Britain, Germany, France, and Sweden.

This year 9 young Russian curators have given the chance to undertake an internship in the leading art-institutions in 5 European Countries: Tranzit.at (Austria) –  Anna Buyvid, Wiener Festwochen (Austria) – Darya Kostina, Modern Art Oxford (UK) – Elena Yushina, Liverpool Biennal (UK) – Mariya Godovannaya, Das Grassimuseum Leipzig (Germany) – Khristina Demenshina, Centre Pompidou Metz (France) – Yelizaveta Shagina, FIAC Paris (France) – Aleksandr Pevak, Anastasiya Skvortsova, Kalmar Art Museum (Sweden) – Mariya Kotlyachkova.

In course of their internship all the participants worked on the same topic: “Contemporary curatorial strategies: audience expansion, how to work with your audience”. As the result of this research all the participants developed independent curatorial projects. The final round, where 4 finalists will introduce their projects, will be held as an open competition with the judges. The audience will also have an opportunity to vote for the best candidate – the finalists are waiting for your help!

The winner of the competition will receive a EUNIC grant to implement the project.

On the agenda:
