DISCOVER MYSTERIOUS WORLDS
2-23 January 2013, Art-Experiment, "Garage", Moscow

From 2 to 23 January 2013 Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture opens its doors to everyone keen to unleash their imagination stepping into the world of creative collaboration.

The legendary ART-EXPERIMENT, first held in 2010, will unite people of all ages offering to share joy, to laugh, to revive childhood dreams, to get inspired and to create.

Last year’s event - which attracted over 6,000 visitors - invited participants to take over Garage for two days of painting, sticking, drawing, carving and baking, filling the space with their own ideas and creative energy. Work included Martin Creed’s Half the air in a given space and surrealist art biscuits and sensory still-life paintings with the British duo Bompas & Parr.

This year ART-EXPERIMENT takes on a new twist - running for nearly a month in Garage’s new pavilion in Gorky Park it represents a unique mix of contemporary art and interactive family entertainment retaining Garage’s authentic festive atmosphere, so fancied by visitors. The guests will have an opportunity to go through five mysterious experiences: to taste the fog, to mastermind a cloud, to paint with a flying ball, to create one’s own little universe and, as usually, to receive memorable gifts. The British Council has invited six UK-based artists to participate in the project: Danielle Tay, Hsiao-Chi Tsai and Kimiya Yoshikawa, Nat Urazmetova, and once again, Sam Bompas and Harry Parr will present their interactive installations to the guests of the creative festivity.

The ART-EXPERIMENT participants will also see the works by young artists and sculptors from Canada, USA, Poland and Singapore, among which the stir-causing «Cloud» stands out – born from thousands of light bulbs by Canadian artists Caitlind Brown and Wayne Garrett. The visitors will be able to collectively mastermind the “Cloud” – communicating with each other to make it shine brighter or to switch it off altogether.

Organisers are keeping activities a closely-guarded secret – it is better to see the magic with one’s own eyes then to hear or read about it.
