In October 2011 the British Council enrolled trainers to work on dissemination of the English products, conduct trainings and promotion presentations in their regions and support BC online activities, such as Russian community at Teaching English website. As a result the Regional Network of Coordinators was set up. Teachers from all over Russia were selected to join the team. Our regional trainers are spread across 9 time zones from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka:
- Regularly conduct trainings and talks promoting BC products in English (e.g. websites, training courses, etc.) at the events organised themselves and at other ELT events held in their region. The events should be held at least once a month if not agreed otherwise and should be free for public.
- Support BC Russia community on Teaching English website by actively moderate the discussion on one of the assigned forums; writing blogs, identifying candidates for teacher feature and video lessons, other activities as agreed with BC.
- Quarterly report to BC on the activities that took place, feedback from the activities and suggestions on further improvements for face to face and online activities.
- Support other relevant BC activities in English, e.g. conduct classroom observation, surveys, etc. as agreed with BC.
- Suggest replacement in advance in case of withdrawal or end of commitment period.
- Specific terms of reference will be agreed on and signed during the workshop.
- To provide training and promotion materials
- To provide certificates confirming the status of the trainers
- To organise yearly training and coordination meetings
- To pay half year honoraria of approximately 20,000 roubles in case of successful completion of terms of reference
- To offer opportunities for professional development whenever possible (mostly distant)
- To take every other effort to support and promote the trainers
- In addition two best trainers each year will take part in IATEFL conference in the UK
- At least 4 years of teaching experience
- High level of English (C1 and above)
- Previous teacher training experience (formal or informal)
- Motivation and enthusiasm to become BC trainer
- Access to large numbers of teachers
- Availability of time and resources to conduct the activities within terms of reference.
