International Cultural Forum 2012
September 2012, Ulyanovsk

In September 2012 the British Council participated in the International Cultural Forum in Ulyanovsk in close cooperation and with support of the “Ulyanovsk – Capital of Culture” foundation.

On September 25-26 Percy Emmett, a leading UK consultant in the field of creative entrepreneurship delivered an intensive training for 25 young entrepreneurs from Ulyanovsk, who are planning to start their own business in creative industries. There were participants from different fields, such as photography, painting, contemporary dance, design and others.

The seminar was held in cooperation with the local cultural business-incubator “Kvartal”, which has recently been established by the “Ulyanovsk – Capital of Culture” foundation and Government of the Ulyanovsk region.

On September 27 British Council also took part in the business program of the forum, which brought together about 1,500 employees from cultural institutions across the country. The British Council deputy director Christian Duncumb became one of the participants of the round table “Cross years in culture: results and perspectives”, moderated by Mikhail Shvidkoy, the special representative of the president of the Russian Federation.

During the forum two British experts Percy Emmett, business consultant and developer of the NESTA Creative Enterprise Toolkit, and Fiona Pilgrim, the development manager of the Center for Creative Enterprise Scotland shared their experience with the audience on the realization and support of creative enterprises in Great Britain.
