Cultural Management Workshop
20 - 21 February 2012

British Council Russia is happy to announce the call for applications for the Cultural Management Workshop which will be organised on 20-21 February 2012 at Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design with support of Open Society Institute.

This workshop is part of the British Council Cultural Leadership programme that aims at enabling cultural practitioners and leaders develop their skills, networks and partnerships to successfully operate in the cultural sector in the rapidly changing context. Over the recent years, it has become apparent that many emerging cultural leaders need support to develop practical cultural management competencies in addition to leadership skills.

The Cultural Management Workshop (CMW) will focus on delivering management skills’ trainings of persons working in arts and cultural industries with particular focus on audience development, marketing and fundraising methods. Experienced trainers from the UK will lead the workshop. As a result of the Cultural Management Workshop, its participants will gain better understanding of the notion of creative economy and its great potential in Russia.

Aim of the CMW

  • Exposure of Russian arts and cultural industries sector to international standards in cultural management and to successful models that could be replicated locally;
  • Development of a more skilled cultural sector: more entrepreneurial, reflective, outward-looking, confident and receptive to further development and wider social engagement;
  • Access to networking opportunities with other colleagues working in the sector: development of partnerships and collaborations.

Participants’ profile

  • Emerging cultural practitioners, managers and entrepreneurs involved in management of big public cultural projects and events e.g. city/music/literature festivals, performing arts events;
  • Living and working in Russia;
  • With at least 3 years of experience;
  • Fluent English is preferable, though not necessary (translation is provided).

Note: The number of participants is limited to 28 people. The selected applicants will be contacted by 16 February 2012.
