Intradance is a wide-ranging project in the field of contemporary dance to be carried out in 2009-2010. The project will initiate and present five co-productions between Russian dance companies and European Union based choreographers in five regional cities of Russia and Moscow. Intradance is organised within the framework of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and is managed by the Centre Culturel Français in cooperation with the German Goethe-Institut, the British Council, the Portuguese Instituto Camoẽs and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The project is funded by the European Commission.
- To create a co-production with a Russian contemporary dance company. The co-production will be presented in the Russian dance company’s home city.
Duration: Creation and presentation during a minimum of 4 weeks between June 2009 and March 2010.
- To calculate the production costs in cooperation with the respective Russian partner.
- To present the production during a festival in Moscow where all five selected co-productions will be shown.
Duration: The Festival will last for one week in April 2010.
- To present their own work in lectures and workshops to the local audience.
The choreographer can select up to two persons – for example, assistants, dancers, light or stage designers - to accompany her/him during the co-production in Russia.
The selection of both the European Union based choreographers and the Russian dance companies, as well as the match making for each co-production, will be the responsibility of the managing board of the project.
A grant for the coverage of the co-productions costs, travel costs, accommodation and fees is included in the project.
The choreographer, when applying for this project, should submit, together with the application form, all necessary documents to establish its compliance with the following criteria:
- have worked for at least five years in the field of contemporary dance
- have created at least two productions in the last four years which have been shown in national or international art events, dance platforms or dance festivals,
- have a written recommendation from a renowned European dance organisation or festival or a national institute for the promotion of culture abroad, regarding his/her work,
- have for the last 5 years at least, carried out his/her principal professional artistic activity on the European Union territory,
- have previous experience in lectures, master classes and workshops,
- be available to work at least 4 weeks on the co-production in Russia and 1 week to take part in the final festival in Moscow.
Applications should be written in English and should contain:
- application form (to be downloaded from www.intradance.ru)
- detailed curriculum vitae (including list of choreographic works)
- letter of interest (one page A4)
- two works presented in the last four years on DVD format (no trailer, only full documentation)
- a recommendation letter from a renowned European dance organisation or festival or a national institute for the promotion of culture abroad.
