DEBATE ONLINE

We collaborated with openDemocracy to create an online debate from April to June, a free-thinking space dedicated to challenging perceptions, with a range of supporting articles from science professionals and social commentators.

What is climate change debate about?
The climate change debate looks at the issues from all angles, and invites opinion from anyone who is concerned about the future of our planet. The debate has already questioned the role of science (how facts are presented and understood), international governance, action and equity, and technological solutions.

Why we're working with openDemocracy?
openDemocracy is an online global magazine dedicated to creating a free-thinking space for the discussion of politics and culture. As well as this forum, openDemocracy regularly publish opinion that's designed to stimulate the mind, challenge perceptions and clarify the issues.

How long did the debate run for?
The main debate began on 20 April and ran until 10 June, ahead of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland (6-8 July). The debate has now been archived and can still be accessed online.

Why visit the debate archive?
The climate change debate was supported by over 25 articles written by scientists, technologists, city planners, policy makers and other public figures. The debate was an opportunity to engage in a discussion with some of the main players in science and public life, plus the chance to read the many perspectives from around the globe.

Summary of the debate
We have produced a summary of the online debate, reflecting many of the views expressed, which you can dowload here.
