Funding for partnerships with Saudi Arabia

We're currently recruiting for partnerships between secondary schools in the UK and secondary schools in Saudi Arabia.  Grants of up to £1,500 per school per year are available to support project work.  If you apply for the partnerships, we will put you in touch with schools in Saudi Arabia and help you get started on a collaborative project.

Important dates:  The deadline for applications is 16 March 2012.  The teachers leading the partnership would need to attend a contact seminar soon after the application has been approved, to meet Saudi partner teachers and begin planning a joint project.

Eligibility:  The partnerships are open to clusters of three UK secondary schools working together.  For help and advice on forming a cluster, please contact us.

Please note: The partnerships will be with Saudi boys' schools.  Due to schooling being single sex in Saudi Arabia, UK schools would be required to send a male teacher to the contact seminar and communications with the Saudi partners would also need to be led by male staff. Students of both sexes can participate in project activities but female students will not be able to engage directly with Saudi male students. The British Council will provide full support and guidance on managing these cultural sensitivities to successful schools.

How to apply:  Download the application form and the guidance notes.  If you would prefer to use Welsh language versions, download the Welsh application form and the Welsh guidance notes.  If you have any questions, please contact us.
