| This issue of LearnEnglish UK - Culture takes a look at aspects of life in each of the four countries that make up the UK: Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. |

| Language, rugby and the Millennium Stadium. Sport and music play a large part in what is distinctive about Wales as both are important parts of the national culture. Definitely not ych-y-fi! |
| Festivals, lochs, shopping and beaches. Although many of those surveyed mentioned Scotland’s stunning landscape, it was the social life and shopping in Glasgow and Edinburgh that were more important to those from Scotland! |
| Great craic, live music and the Ulster Fry. Like Wales, Northern Ireland has a strong musical culture – which can be seen in many pubs of an evening! Home and family life is also important though. Stickin’ out! |
| Diverse society, football and food. These were a few of the things those from England had to say about perhaps the least individually distinctive of the four countries. Creativity and tradition also play a part in how England is perceived. |
