Dreams + Teams is about developing young leaders and global citizens through sport and international awareness. Dreams + Teams is challenging young leaders own assumptions, beliefs and behaviours relating to sport leadership and cross-cultural awareness.
Dreams + Teams uses the global language and diversity of sport to develop leadership skills, active citizenship and international awareness and partnerships. Through Dreams + Teams, young leaders will learn how to lead other young people using sport and to have fun along the way.
The participants taking part in the programme are challenged to:
demonstrate leadership |
be active citizens in their community |
value and promote cross-cultural understanding. |
The programme is offered in partnership by the British Council and the Youth Sport Trust.
British Council Romania selects Tutors who are trained by UK trainers. The Tutors then train young leaders to run mini sport festivals. The young leaders will be encouraged to establish Dreams and Teams Clubs and to use their new skills to make an impact in their own schools and then in their community.
The selection of Local Tutors will be done through an open selection process based on application forms and interviews.
The training courses are based on a facilitative learning approach which aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to develop their teamwork and sport leadership skills.
Reflection and self/ peer review along with an approach that asks questions instead of giving answers are fundamental to the training.
