Join the new generation of science communicators! FameLab International is an international competition of science communication organised by the British Council and the UK Cheltenham Science Festival in over 20 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, South Africa and the USA.
If you are aged 18 to 35 years old, aspire to share you passion for science and technology with the wider public, and want to develop your communication skills, take part in the 5th edition of FameLab Romania!
Each contestant will have 3 minutes to present any scientific engineering, mathematical, medical or natural sciences topic of their choice, with no PowerPoint or other electronic presentation and limited use of props. The talk should be entertaining, original, and scientifically accurate but also engaging to a non-scientific audience.
The novelty of this year’ edition of FameLab Romania was that contestants had the chance to make their 3 minute presentation as a video and submit it online. Registration closed on 27 April 2012.
After evaluating the video submissions, the judging panel: Dr. Roxana Bojariu (Physician, National Meteorological Administration, Ad-Astra representative), Dan Cadar (TV producer, TVR), Cristian Lascu (Redactor sef, National Geographic Romania), Gabriel Ivan (Project Manager, British Council Romania), Prof. univ. dr. Henri Luchian (Professor - Faculty of Mathematics - Prorector, AI. I. Cuza University, Iasi) and Prof. univ. dr. Liviu Papadima (Faculty of Letters – Prorector University of Bucharest) selected 10 finalists.
The contestants met at the FameLab final 2012 in Bucharest, on Monday 28 May, at the National Library - Atrium hall (22 Unirii Blvd.) where they had to deliver a 3-minute presentation to a live audience and in front of TV cameras.
