The most magical room

On Thursday, 26 January 2006, British Council Centre Bucharest received the visit of a truly wonderful guest: J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. She came to Romania to work together with Baroness Emma Nicholson in support of the Children’s High Level Group organisation, active in fund-raising for children’s rights programmes and in sharing Romania’s experience across East Europe.

At the British Council, J.K. Rowling had an informal meeting with some of our Teaching Centre students and BritTeen members and together they watched an exuberant and moving pantomime show performed by young Romanian non-professional actors. J.K. Rowling also met with Ioana Iepureanu, the world’s youngest Harry Potter-translator and left us with a signed copy of her latest book, which reads To the Library !  – the most magical room in any building, with love J.K.Rowling.
