How do I register?
Come to our centre at 14 Calea Dorobantilor, sector 1, Bucharest, with your identity card, student card, if applicable, and the fee. The registration process should take no longer than three minutes.
What can I borrow from the library?
Books, CDs and CD-ROMs, DVDs and periodicals. For books the loan period is three weeks; for DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs and periodicals, it is one week. The loan period can be renewed once if the items have not been reserved by other members. Details
Can I get any assistance with choosing the resources I need?
Of course. Any library staff member can advise you on the resources available and help you look up titles in the catalogue or on the shelves.
How can I self-assess my English knowledge level?
For a 15 lei fee, you can take the Quick Placement Test (QPT). It is a multiple choice test of 60 questions. Your score is given by the total number of right answers. The score serves only as a guide as this test only assesses your grammar and vocabulary. We advise you to supplement your self-assessment by doing a test from one of the practice tests sets available in our library or on the Internet.
Are there any online English language tests?
There are several useful websites where you can self-assess your English knowledge level. Most of these tests include tasks for the following exam papers: reading, use of English and listening.
What membership type do I need if I want to sit an English language Cambridge exam?
You can choose from: 1) Standard/Youth subscription – access to the exam collection requires proof of payment of the exam registration fee; 2) Exams subscription – you don’t need to produce the receipt for the exam registration fee; 3)Standard/Youth subscription and a supplementary fee for the ‘access to the exam collection’ option. What kind of exam resources can I borrow?
Our library offers a wide range of exam resources: course books, practice tests, past papers, testbuilders and study packs. All the titles available come with audio CDs or tapes for listening exercises. Besides audio recordings, a title consists of a student’s book, a workbook and a teacher’s book with further explanations. You can also watch a video recording of the speaking paper (the video is available for reference only). In addition, you have access to two more special collections focused on study skills and exam stress management.
Is there any reading list for the exam I want to take?
You can ask for a list which is for guidance only. These lists, one for each English language exam, include course books, practice tests, books, audio CDs and tapes and useful Internet links. Studying these titles is optional. We advise you to read the exam brochures and browse the recommended websites for precise information on exam content.
