Do you feel like you have something to say? Don't hold your ideas to yourself! Now, you have Debate @British, the debate club in English developed by the British Council in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia!

The Winter module of Debate @British

Registration for new members will take place between 10 December 2012 and 15 January 2013, as follows:

Monday (10, 17 December, 7, 14 January), between 10.00 - 17.00
Tuesday - Friday, bewteen 12.00 - 19.30*
Saturday, between 9.00 - 13.30*

*The British Council will be closed to the public between 22 December 2012 and 2 January 2013, for the winter holidays.

Before they can enrol, all new members are invited to schedule an admission interview during the registration period by contacting us at 021 307 96 00 (Monday - Friday, 9.00 - 17.00) or contact@britishcouncil.ro. Interviews take place from Monday to Friday, between 10.00 and 17.00. The interview is not required if the participants have an English language certificate attesting to their level (First Certificate in English, Certificate in Advanced English, Certificate of Proficiency in English, IELTS with score of 5.0).
The debate club is aimed towards high school students and consists of 11 classes, structured in 2 hour sessions once a week, on Mondays, which will take place at the British Council in Calea Dorobantilor 14. The winter module will be organised during 21 January and 1 April 2013.

NEW! You can pick your schedule preference. Depending on your timetable you can enrol in one of the following groups:

9.00 - 11.00
19.00 - 21.00

A group is composed of minimum 7 and maximum 16 participants.

The club is structured in three theoretical modules and a practice club, as follows:

Beginner Module (three months) - for absolute beginners in English debates; you will develop valuable skills such as analytical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, individual work, research and reasoning
Intermediate Module (three months) - for those who graduated from the Beginner module; you will further develop all the skills acquired in the Beginner module and you will have the chance to attend debate competitions; you will also participate in mock debate competitions
Advanced Module (three months) - for those who graduated from the Intermediate module; you will further develop all the skills acquired in the Beginner and Intermediate modules and you will participate in internal competitions
Practice Club - for those who graduated all three theoretical modules; you will further develop your skills and, based on performance, you will be selected to participate in regional, national and international competitions

20% discount (1680 RON) if you pay for all three theoretical modules simultaneously
15% discount (1190 RON) if you pay for two theoretical modules simultaneously

The fee can be paid during the registration period, either directly at the British Council or by bank transfer.

About Debate @British

Debate is a very popular curricular and extracurricular activity in the UK and other Western countries and it represents a way for you to develop your thinking, your analytical skills, your public speaking skills and, from now on, your English as well, through Debate @British. Classes are held by trainers certified by the Romanian Association for Debate, ARDOR Muntenia, who are champions of debate competitions, at the British Council in Calea Dorobantilor 14.
